A big disappointment in PG-13

Posted : 14 years, 7 months ago on 8 August 2009 06:15 (A review of Terminator Salvation)

I'm not kidding, this is one of the biggest movie disappointments i have ever seen.

What we have here is a war movie set in the Terminator universe. A popcorn/war movie without any battle scenes in PG-13...

If You've seen previous Terminator movies, i'm sure that You'll remember how war set in the future should look like. It was dark and horrifying. When i first saw T1/2 i was really afraid of the future.
Cameroon did really great job doing this, becouse in 5 minute fragment he achieved something, that McG didn't achieve in 2 hour movie.

In Terminator: Salvation we have no fear, world is not so bad (human resistance has airplanes, submarine, a lot of military equipment) and sexy pilot chick's have always a great makeup. In this world the "big, bad computer" Skynet "lives" in a big tower (apparently if You're bad You need to have a tower), and You can hunt "mototerminators" (rotfl) on a Guns n Roses song.

I can do like this forever. But the point is, this is not a Terminator movie, this is just an illogical, shooting movie for kids. Most of the scenes that you see on the screen is connected to two things: explosions and lack of logic.
Worst thing is that dialogs are in Michael Bay style. You know, a lot of pathos and bull...t.

And one last thing. PG-13? Really? Ruthless war, extermination of Mankind in PG-13? Really? There's like one death on the screen. Worldwide war with the machines and one guy is getting killed.. So where is this stuff? ah, yes, in first two terminator movies, but they are not about the war, terminator salvation is about war...

I am a fan of first and (especially) second part of Teminator. Third one was more like an selfparody, i didn't like it, but still third is better than this joke.

Why 3/10 not 1/10? Because I've seen worst movies and the CGI where ok. But CGI is not everything. I expected a lot from this movie, but i didn't expect an action/adventure flick for kids.

And today we know that T5 is coming...
No thanks. I'm going to watch T2 again.
